Bio

Angela Marie Nicholls is an artist whose practice is deeply intertwined with her experience of living with chronic illness. Working from the Long Eaton Art Room, she employs figurative oil painting as a medium to explore and express the complexities of the human experience. Angelas artwork reflects her journey through illness, utilizing layers of paint to symbolize the multifaceted nature of identity and the emotional landscapes we navigate. Her compositions often incorporate elements of nature, serving as a metaphor for the interconnectedness of life and our inherent need for connection with others. The intuitive and expressive mark-making in her pieces captures the essence of personal experiences, while the highly rendered areas highlight the intricacies of personality shaped by both struggles and triumphs. Through her art, Angela invites viewers to engage with their own narratives, fostering a sense of empathy and understanding. Her work not only serves as a personal catharsis but also acts as a bridge for dialogue about chronic illness, resilience, and the universal quest for belonging. By layering her paint and emotions, she creates a visual language that resonates with the viewer, encouraging a deeper reflection on the shared human condition.
